I’m Making More Money By Blogging.

Now I have covered the steps I would go through today to start a blog and make money, knowing what I know today.

I even posted recently how much money I am making blogging, but I wanted to update you today.

I just reached another milestone for 2023. Having only one monetized blog, MyMotorcycleBlog.com, I have broken the $7 per day income level over the last 30 days.

Now this sounds like little money being made from blogging, but the truth is, this is proof of concept.

You can make money blogging, and let’s quickly cover some things I am doing well and not doing well when looking at the typical advice we get from blogging.

Pick A Profitable Blogging Niche.

Well, MyMotorcycleBlog.com wasn’t my first or second blogging idea.

I’ve made many websites, but only recently(last 2-3 years) created a blog site idea to document my journey while covering a specific topic. With this said, are motorcycles a profitable blogging niche?

I have to say, Yes and No.

The Yes part.

Riding motorcycles is a hobby, and this hobby can be expensive. So some marketers/advertisers want to sell services and products to people on motorcycles.

People with disposable incomes do hobbies that require money to get into, operate, and enjoy. Advertisers love these people.

So some advertisers have deeper pockets trying to get ads on websites, this case blogs, to catch the attention of potential customers. In the process, some of the advertisement money is shared with the blogger.

Reading that you feel motorcycles are a profitable niche, right?

Well, the No part.

It’s seasonal. Motorcycles might be very profitable during the warmer months, but blogging income is cyclical with this topic. In winter months, the traffic declines on my site, and using a 30-day rolling average, some months, I am down to only making $3 per day.

So, writing about a potentially expensive hobby like motorcycling can wax and wane on the money flow every year.

However, motorcycles are an excellent topic for me. Let’s cover lessons learned; my experience will help accelerate your blogging business.

Blogging Traffic & Money Lessons Learned:

  1. Motorcycles are profitable. When picking a blogging niche, choose a blogging topic that has the potential to earn an income.
  2. Motorcycles are cyclical/seasonal. So this is not a great blogging topic to have a steady yearly income. So pick a blogging topic that is in the limelight year-round.
  3. I like motorcycles. Yes, I said it; I picked a blogging topic I enjoy writing about, sharing my experiences through blogging, and patiently waiting for the blog to make money.

Now I covered the positive experiences working on my only blog that is making money, but this is one Con about blogging I need help with.

Making Money While Blogging Is A Long Game.

Meaning search engines don’t want to present overnight websites to their customers, so blogs suffer from this delay, and often good blogs receive no search engine traffic in the beginning.

After a while, you might get initial search engine results displaying your blog, but then search engines appear to scrutinize how their customers respond.

Your traffic has been meager, so your experience generating quality blog content might not keep a reader on your site. Your ‘bound rate’ might be high, and search engines want to keep readers reading.

Again, these are two things against you with blogging. It takes a long time to be an overnight success with blogging.

Earning Big Money In Blogging?

Now $7 per day would only be considered a success to some, but for me, my hobby is making me money.

Also, from here, it can keep growing since I’m constantly trying to improve my blog(Step 10) and continue to add content(Step blah).

If you got this far, I was hoping you are a true student of blogging for income and asked, what is the breakdown in revenue by sources?

My Blogging Income Sources.

MyMotorcycleBlog.com has been making, over the last 30 days, $218.54.

Author’s Notice: This page contains affiliate links, for which I may earn a commission by their use. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

My Blog Monetization Broken Down:

$97.79 was from Ezoic.com

Ezoic is a display ad service that comes with many special tools to help do analytics on your site and hopefully get you to generate better content for your readers.

$120.75 was from Amazon.com

Now we all know Amazon as customers, but Amazon has an affiliate service where if you direct potential customers to them, they will share some of the money spent by the buyer with you.

Now, my blog is small, so the fees I’m earning are small. But, being this low, I have lots of room to grow, and with evergreen content, it can be a solid passive income generator( Can Income From Blogging Be Passive Income? ).

Again, let’s break down the sources of income for today:

44.7% is from display ads.

55.3% is from affiliate sales.

I Like Affiliate Sales More Than Display Ads On My Blog.

Many bloggers are “money is money,” but when I make an affiliate commission, I write something useful for my readers.

I covered upgrade or maintenance items that my readers followed a link and purchased. It is an example of how I wrote an article that targeted my readers and was helpful.

Wrap Up.

I broke another income milestone for my blog this year, and it will continue to grow from here.

This milestone was broken with only one of my blogs since it is the only blog making money. This blog you are reading has not been accepted into any ad network, and affiliate sales have been non-existent.

New blogs, this one, should be more noticed by search engines for reasons already given.
